Happy Monday…

Last week was a great week in the Schmucker house! My family came to visit from Pennsylvania and we celebrated Stella’s birthday as well as Christmas, complete with a turkey, stuffing, and Stella’s new favorite CRANBERRIES! Seriously, I think our little princess ate a whole can of cranberries. It was so nice to take a bit of a break and relax with my family. We were able to do all the things our family loves to do. Shop, of course, go to antique stores, eat delicious food, play ROOK, and drink smoothies with Jeremy’s famous homemade popcorn.

It was such a great week, and now we have to recover and clean the house…lol There are toys everywhere! Stella is not complaining though, she thinks Nana, Pop Pop, and Kendra are awesome!

Pictures of our week with family to come soon, but for now, you can enjoy a sneak peek of Lucy and Cole’s engagement session this weekend. It will be on the blog soon…and I promise, you don’t want to miss it!

Kissing 101

It seems kind of silly to write a blog post about how to kiss, but it is one of those things that we are always teaching at an engagement shoot or on a wedding day, so I think it deserves a blog post. There is a bit of a science to a kiss that looks awesome in photos.

First up, what not to do. Don’t pucker your lips with fishy lips!, don’t use tongue (just not pretty), don’t go to fast (we need a second to catch the moment) don’t peck.

So what makes a great kiss for photos…

1. It is all about the emotion –  Try to forget that we are there snapping away and let the moment just happen.

2. Go sloooow – Give us time to capture the kiss…don’t go too fast because we don’t want to miss it!

3. Do what feels natural – I know it isn’t every day you have people taking photos of you, but try to do what comes natural…get in close, use your hands, kiss the cheek or forehead.

4. Keep it light – Keep it intimate, soft, and romantic, try not to peck or squish your lips. Don’t push so hard your noses get squished.

5. Close your eyes –  This goes back to being natural

Here are a few couples that got it right…

Love is in the Air Wedding Inspiration

If you are anything like me and you are addicted to Pinterest, you know that it is the place to be for wedding ideas. One of my favorite wedding themes right now is this gorgeous combination of pink and teal. This wedding theme is a little vintage and a little classic, and all together a fabulous mix of pink and teal wedding goodness. I think it is such a dreamy and romantic wedding theme…

A Little Southern Grammar Lesson.

We have lived in the South for a few years now and we love all things southern! So when I stumbled across this picture on Pinterest, I thought it would be great to give our non southern followers a little southern grammar lesson, because I get it…southern speak can be a bit confusing until you get used to it. So here ya go…

Love at First Laugh

Jeremy and I were never one of those “let’s be friends and take things slow” kind of couples. We started dating pretty soon after we met and never looked back…something just fit.

I will never forget the day we met. We had been introduced in passing before, but had never even had a conversation…and then one day things changed. We met up with a friend who was taking a photography course so she could practice taking pictures on the two of us and one other friend. I was the serious one, a little reserved with an extra dose of prim and proper. Jeremy was the opposite, he was the life of the party and always making people laugh.

We met that day in the middle of campus, and something happened. It wasn’t love the first time I saw his handsome face. I wasn’t really having that great of a day when I showed up for the little photo shoot that Saturday morning, but then he made me laugh. Despite my bad day and the things that I thought had gone wrong, he made me smile. And when I was with him, I seemed to forget all of my troubles. Everything just seemed to fit.

I went home that evening knowing there was something there, I wanted to laugh like that for the rest of my life. I wanted to have someone to make me smile, even in the bad days. I wanted to spend my life with him.

It has been 5 years since that day and he still makes me laugh, and turns my bad days to good days.
