I am in love with…Bridal sessions

Growing up in the north Bridal portraits were not something that I knew anything about. Those of you in the South might think that it is strange to not know about them, but bridal portraits are just one more thing that I love about the South. For those of you that don’t know what they are, bridal portraits are photos of the bride taken before the wedding with her looking amazing in her dress, shoes, hair done and even her bouquet. Often one of the bridal portraits is displayed at the reception.

Every girl loves to look beautiful and a photo shoot all about the bride is an amazing way to do this. Bridal portraits are often a great way to incorporate something special or even a little funky that you might not include on your actual wedding day, such as props, jewelry and hairpieces. Of course I don’t put the bridal photos up on the blog until after your wedding day to make sure that the groom doesn’t get a sneek peek of your dress.

I had an amazing bridal session with an absolutly stunning bride this past weekend, and I can’t wait to share those images with you in a few weeks. Until then, here is a shot of her amazing ring from the session.

And here are a few favorites of past brides…aren’t they all such gorgeous girls…

Fun I like the laying back shot… so relaxed and romantic

Love those bridal pictures, and that ring is gorgeous! Didn’t know bridal pictures aren’t very popular in the north. They are missing out ;)

50,000 Words Are Still Not Enough

Here is what Jeremy left for me yesterday on his blog for our anniversary…just one more way to prove that I am the luckiest girl in the world.

When God sends a person into your life who literally transforms every aspect of it, it is hard to remember the times you weren’t together. Two years ago I said “I do” to the woman who forever changed me and my life. I realize two years is really not that long, but it seems like we have been together forever.

I could not truly come up with the words that would express my thoughts, feelings, and love I have for you, Kristin, so what better way than through pictures. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words. So here  are 50,000 words.

Our wedding…

I love her. It’s true.

We ordered breakfast delivered to our room every morning! that is the life!

Snorkeling in the caves. And yes there were bats!

I was selected to go onstage where the guy would try to make a fool of me by playing “pantomime ping-pong” – little did he expect me to be an actor as well! soo fun

Best Christmas present from my in-laws. Wii!!!

Our First Vacation. Savannah, GA.

Yes, we actually took the tripod with us in a backpack. We are nerds, ok!

Our First Easter service was at Passion City Church in Atlanta Georgia with Louis Giglio and Chris Tomlin. Amazing to say the least.

Did I mention we had close seats! Louis’ sermon was unforgettable!

One Year Anniversary at a Bed & Breakfast in Mobile, AL. It was sooo gorgeous and beautiful

I played the piano, and Kristin used it as a backdrop for a ring shot! Steinway incase you were wondering…

undefinedundefined

While at PTS we spent many nights walking around campus at night

undefined

And yes, the commentaries were constantly on the kitchen counter being read for class.

Kristin got the idea for this ring shot in the PCC library. Since the first two years of our marriage were spent in grad school at PTS I think the pic just tells the story

These were for all the times where “sorry” wasn’t enough…

so very sweet

Two wonderful years…

Dear Jeremy,

It is hard to believe that it has been 2 years since our wedding day. Part of me feel like this time has flown by, and another part of me feels like we have been married forever. When I think back to the years before I knew you, it seems like another life. I can hardly remember what life was like without you. But I can say, that as I look back I can not help but see how God worked in every circumstance of my life to bring me to you.  I can honestly say that there is nothing I would rather do than be with you, and there is no one I would rather spend my time with than you.

So many things have changed in the two years that we have been married. We have grown closer to God and to each other, finished a Master’s degree,  moved across the country, become wedding photographers, found out we are having a baby and so many more things. You are my constant example of the type of person and Christian that I want to be, and I know that in just a few months you will be the greatest daddy our little girl could ask for. I brag on you whenever I can, but that is only because I know that I am married to the greatest man in the world and that you are absolutely perfect for me. Thanks for putting up with all my quirks and loving me anyway. Thank you for being my very best friend and the one that I can count on no matter what.

I love you…

Laura

Congrats you guys! Love you both! Love all three! ;) <3

I am in love with…Pro Photo Blogs

I have gotten several emails recently from up and coming photographers asking about what I use to create my blog and website. I am going to talk about Showit very soon and talk a little about Pro Photo today.

As a girl I believe it is my right to change my mind whenever I want too…and trust me I do sometimes. With that in mind, I can never stick to the same blog or website design for too long before I get a little bored and need a change. You might have noticed that the blog got a face lift over the past few days, I really liked the way it was before, but sometimes I just need something fresh. With that in mind, I have never been the type to be satisfied with a template blog or website. I and my business are different than everyone else’s so why should I have the exact same blog or website as 200 other photographers? This is one of the biggest reasons that I use Showit for my website and ProPhoto for my blog.

I think that web presence is so important, and I know blogging has helped me so much. I try to blog every day and I have noticed that the more I blog the more traffic I get to my blog and website.

The thing I LOVE about Pro Photo is that it is easy to use and completely customizable. I have talked to several other photographers and have heard how they don’t blog because of how time consuming it is, but blogging with Pro Photo couldn’t be any easier, unless it wrote the blog posts for me…lol. The fact that I can change anything about it means that I can make it match my website and totally rearrange things when I want something fresh. Trust me that is a good thing, my first blog design…not so pretty…seriously it was pretty bad.

Pro Photo is a one time purchase and is downloaded right into WordPress, other than my camera Pro Photo was one of the first investments that I made in my business, and it was a great investment. If you want to create a customized and professional looking blog I highly recommend it. Check out their website and let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks for the thoughts. I haven’t made an “official website” yet and I am collecting information and opinions on companies out there, so this was really helpful!

Great post Kristin! After I buy my new lens, this will be my next investment (just getting started, but I know this will be HUGE in getting some exposure, and I’ve heard so many great things about PP. I’ll be picking your brain for sure ; )

I’ve checked them about before and was VERY pleased about their designs! I plan on investing with them soon. Blogger just doesn’t cut it. :P Do you sell prints through your website? There are a lot of services out there, but I haven’t really been pleased with any that I’ve stumbled upon. If you do, what you do have, and do you like it?

My Random Life #3

It is hard to believe that it is already Thursday, which means another update on my random life.

Last weekend I drug Jeremy all around the Metroplex looking at baby things, and I can tell you he enjoyed it a whole lot more than he would probably admit. At one point, I thought I might need to start going a little faster looking through all of the adorable baby clothes, but he told me to make sure I looked through everything. I have a feeling his little girl is going to have her daddy wrapped around her little finger, and he will love every minute of it.

It was also this past weekend that Jeremy put together Stella’s crib, which I am in love with. I will post pictures soon as we get the bedding set up and the room begins to come together.

Jeremy and I had a wonderful 4th of July just spending time together. We started the morning with Praline French Toast which is so sweet and delicious, it is a bit of work, but I know that Jeremy thought that it was worth it in the end. After breakfast we headed out to shoot a Senior session with an amazing girl, who was a natural in front of the camera. Our evening on July 4th was spent eating 5 Guys Burgers and Fries and watching fireworks while drinking overpriced lemonade. Days like this remind me why I love spending time with my best friend.

Jeremy started back to work this week after our move, and though I am happy that we are getting into a more normal schedule, I have been seriously missing my husband each day while he is gone. I guess it will just take some adjusting.

Today the high is 102 degrees…I really must find a pool!

Until next week…

Fun! I love fireworks… save for when they shriek!
