My Random Life #10

It is hard to believe that it the end of August…where has this summer gone? It has been a great one getting settled into our new home and preparing for the arrival of our little one. When I sit back and think about it I realize how much I love my life, I have so much to be grateful for.

Today is Jeremy’s first day back to class for his 2nd Master’s degree…what an overachiever. First class up…Greek. I am so grateful to be married to such a determined man who is such a hard worker in every aspect of life and loves the Lord and his family so much. I couldn’t ask for more.

This is also the first “back to school” season in 20 years that I haven’t gone back to school. Kind of a weird feeling to not head off to class with Jeremy.

I was looking at my schedule for September and October today…wow…its going to be busy! So many sessions to fit in before I am on maternity leave. I will still be blogging while I am out though and with all of the sessions this fall, I should have plenty to blog.

Jeremy and I have been swimming twice in the past two days…and I might be addicted to being in the water. It is a great break from the heat, relaxing, refreshing and a great way to exercise without actually feeling like I am exercising…what more could I want…

Currently watching: Master Chef on Hulu…not sure why I started watching it, but it is actually quite entertaining.

Here is what Jeremy is studying and what I am studying…

It is crazy that it is the end of summer!

Great husbands are so great! I was also thinking how much I have to be grateful for while flipping through old pictures the other day. This was cute, thanks for sharing :)

Krista Morgan

I think I like your studies better Kristin! :)

Kristin Schmucker

Yellow and Gray wedding inspiration…

A little yellow and gray wedding inspiration. I just love this color combo, especially after seeing the explosion of it on Pinterest. There is something very fresh and modern about the combination of these colors and yet when you throw in a little black it is very classy too.  To see more you can visit my Pinterest board dedicated to this lovely palette.

My sister-in-law is getting married and is doing a gray, yellow and navy theme, I’ll have to share this with her!

Gina

I love yellow and gray for a wedding! I love all of your boards, but this is one of my favorites.

What’s in my bag? 85mm 1.8

It is no secret that I LOVE my 50mm 1.4, so I was a bit skeptical that another lens could be just as amazing. The 85mm 1.8 is my #2 lens though and let me tell you, I often just swoon over the images that come from this fabulous lens. Though I love the editorial images that I get from my 50mm, there is just something about the very intimate, private images that are captured with the 85. This is Jeremy’s favorite lens to shoot with on a wedding day since he can get in a little tighter than I am getting with my 50 and he can get a completely different shot of the same pose. The 85mm 1.8 is amazing for bringing out the romantic moments of a wedding day and it always produces the creamiest, dreamiest images.

From the kitchen…Italian Pasta Stir Fry

I enjoy cooking and Jeremy enjoys eating, so we are a great pair. I am always on the hunt for a new recipe, and sometimes I get brave and decide to make one up. I just throw random things together and say a little prayer that it will somehow taste good. A few months ago I blogged about one of our favorite recipes that I made up, that we call The Favorite. Last week I decided to try to make something new…and Jeremy and I are were so happy with the results. I have named it Italian Pasta Stir Fry and it is easy and delicious which are two of the key ingredients to any recipe. Here is the recipe and a few photos of the process.

Italian Pasta Stir Fry

1 Chicken Breast

1 can on Chicken Broth

2 1/2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil

1 medium Zuchinni and 1 medium Squash

4 Roma Tomatoes or 2 medium tomatoes

1 Pound Angel Hair pasta

1 Teaspoon minced garlic

1 packet Lipton Savory Herb and Garlic Soup mix

Thinly slice Zuchini and Squash. Deseed and dice tomatoes.

In large frying pan, brown diced chicken breast in Olive oil and half of the packet of Soup mix.

After meet is cooked through add chicken broth, garlic and zuchini and squash. Cook until zuchini and squash begin to soften and then add tomatoes.

Add cooked pasta stir and serve

this is quite amazing to realize that jeremy, who picked all the veggies out of my pasta
salad, ate all these veggies! ohhhh, it’s hard to believe that texas can change a person
so much…! when you visit, i’ll be sure to make my “vegetable medley” just to be sure you are not an imposter!

My Random Life #9

It’s Thursday, which means it is time for more randomness!

I know I have talked before about how Jeremy and I have date night…but it is kind of an obsession of ours. Granted we have been married two years so sometimes these dates involve trips to the grocery store, but we love them just the same. This week we had a few great dates, the first was a trip to Marble Slab…and let me tell you their Birthday Cake Ice cream is basically the best thing ever. Creamiest, most delicious stuff ever.

We had to have another date night when I saw a commercial for Olive Garden’s never ending pasta bowl. I am pretty sure Jeremy uttered the phrase “I was born for this”, when referring to the endless amounts of pasta, salad and breadsticks he consumed.

I must say that since moving from Florida to Texas one the things that I have missed (other than the obvious beach) was Publix. If you don’t know what Publix is, you are missing out. It is the best grocery store that is immaculately clean where they push your cart to your car and unload your groceries. (Now you see why grocery shopping could be considered a date!) Alas, there is not a Publix here in TX, but this week we discovered an awesome upscale farmers market a la Whole Foods. We walked in and Jeremy said “It is clean like Publix” We happily bought our organic produce in this amazing store which made me want to eat granola…can’t wait to go back.

While consuming our pasta at Olive Garden, Jeremy proposed that we go see a movie. I couldn’t resist, because who doesn’t love the thrill of smuggling your own candy into the theater instead of paying 6 bucks for some Milk Duds…please tell me I am not the only one that does this. Of course, we still bought the $6 popcorn! We saw Crazy, Stupid Love, and let met tell you I was impressed…best movie I have seen in a long while. A romantic comedy that actually spurred on deep conversation on the way home. I laughed, I cried and I walked out of the theater a little more in love with my best friend…seriously go see it, it is worth spending $6 on popcorn.

Since all of this randomness has to do with things I love, here is a picture of me with the one thing I love most. Don’t worry it isn’t the ice cream, or any of the yumminess from Olive Garden.
